Champagne Brut "Grand Cordon" Mumm
Mumm's Champagne "Grand Cordon" Brut is an iconic and world-famous sparkling wine, produced by the Maison since 1876. It presents itself to the eye with an elegant straw yellow color, crossed by golden reflections and expresses fruity notes of peach and citrus, with details of toasted hazelnut and light minerality that flow into a fresh and citrine sip, with excellent creaminess and enveloping thanks to the caressing perlage.
Mumm's Champagne Grand Cordon is a bastion of the Champagne tradition, famous throughout the world thanks to the historicity of its brand: in fact, this sparkling wine has been continuously produced since 1876 and its Maison represents a solid reality in the universe of French bubbles since 1827, the year of its foundation. The creation of this product can be attributed to Georges Hermann Mumm, who made a decision that would identify this now historic label in the decades to follow: he decorated the neck of the bottle with a red silk ribbon, to pay homage to the Grand Cordon Rouge of the Legion of Honour, with which officers were decorated, thus making it a timeless icon of the history of Champagne.
Today Mumm Grand Cordon Champagne is produced using the base wines from 77 different crus, scattered throughout all the sub-areas of the region and sees Pinot Noir prevail in the assembly for the 45%, followed by a 30% of Chardonnay and the remaining part of Pinot Meunier. The melange of the bases obtained from these three grapes is then bottled and left to ferment a second time in the bottle, according to the Champenoise method, refining in the bottle for at least 30 months before undergoing degorgement and being put on the market.
The Grand Cordon Mumm Champagne manages to intrigue sensorially even today, presenting itself in the glasses with a straw yellow color with golden reflections, embellished with a fine, persistent and brilliant perlage. On the nose it expresses intriguing fruity notes reminiscent of white peaches, pineapple and fresh citrus fruits, framed by aromas of toasted hazelnuts and mineral puffs while on the palate it is creamy and balanced, with a citrine and chalky freshness, which brings to mind to the soil of Champagne, the identifying mark of this iconic and timeless bottle.
