The Melini Chianti Pian del Masso wine takes its name from a massive cliff located on the territory of the Melini farm.

Casa Melini was founded in 1705 on the outskirts of Florence, in the village of Pontassieve. Melini wines immediately became famous for their high quality, but until the mid-19th century they were supplied only to the domestic market, until in 1865 Alfredo Laborel Melini created a wicker straw casing for the bottle, which allowed the wines to be safely transported abroad. In 1877, the Florence Chamber of Commerce awarded Casa Melini a diploma and a gold medal for developing and strengthening large markets for Tuscan wines abroad. Melini House has confirmed its excellent reputation and to this day produces some of the best-selling wines in the world.
