Il Tignanello è uno dei grandi vini rossi dei Marchesi Antinori, nato negli anni ’70 dopo un lungo percorso di sperimentazione vitivinicola. L’idea all’origine della sua nascita era quella di ottenere uve con maggior concentrazione e tannini morbidi, grazie a interventi sulla densità d'impianto alle potature, da cui nacque un Sangiovese per la prima volta affinato in barrique, assemblato a varietà non tradizionali, come Cabernet Sauvignon e Cabernet Franc. Precursore dei grandi rossi toscani, i Supertuscan, nati dal matrimonio tra vitigni autoctoni e internazionali, il Tignanello è uno di quei grandi vini che ha fatto la storia dell’enologia italiana, diventando leggenda.
La Tenuta Tignanello, dove si trova la villa patronale cinquecentesca e i rinomati vigneti da cui nasce il vino, è situata tra le valli della Greve e di Pesa, nel cuore del Chianti Classico, esattamente tra i piccoli borghi di Montefiridolfi e Santa Maria a Macerata, a 30 chilometri a sud di Firenze.
Il Tignanello è un vino dalla personalità ben definita, nato da pressatura e movimentazioni soffici e poco traumatiche per le uve, fermentazione alcolica in tini di legno e malolattica svolta in barrique. Nasce così il Tignanello: primo Sangiovese ad essere affinato in barrique, primo vino rosso assemblato con varietà non locali quali il Cabernet e tra i primi vini rossi nel Chianti a non includere blend con uve bianche, il Tignanello è stato portavoce della modernità enologica toscana, prodotto unicamente nelle annate migliori e capace di fondare la propria fama su una grande longevità per le grandi degustazioni del domani.
